Poco X8 Review: Should You Buy This 9,000mAh Phone in India?

The Poco X8 is built around one big promise: a 9,000mAh battery in a phone that still feels like a normal mid-ranger, with a bright 1.5K AMOLED screen and IP69K-level water and dust protection on top. It launched in India in September 2026 at ₹29,999, and the price has already fallen by about ₹4,500 on Flipkart. In this Poco X8 review, we combine the official specs, today’s prices, independent test results and more than 1,200 buyer ratings to answer one question: should you buy it, and which variant makes sense?

How we put this review together: this is a buyer’s guide based on official specifications, current pricing, hands-on testing published by independent reviewers, and feedback from verified buyers. We have not tested this unit ourselves.

Quick Verdict

Yes, if battery life and toughness matter more to you than cameras. Independent reviewers agree the Poco X8 easily lasts a full day of heavy use and close to two days (sometimes more) of light use, the screen is excellent, and everyday performance is smooth. The trade-offs are real, though: there is no ultra-wide camera, video tops out at 1080p 30fps, storage is the older UFS 2.2 type, and HyperOS ships with a lot of preinstalled apps.

  • Buy it if: you hate charging every evening, travel a lot, work outdoors, want a bright screen for streaming, and mostly use your phone for calls, WhatsApp, social media, UPI and YouTube.
  • Skip it if: you shoot a lot of video, want group shots with an ultra-wide lens, play demanding games for hours, or find 226 grams too heavy for daily use.

Poco X8 Price in India (November 2026)

Poco sells the X8 in three configurations and three colours (Black, Frost White and Fiery Orange). It went on sale on 11 September 2026 on Flipkart and the Poco India store. Here is how the launch price compares with what we saw when we checked on 7 November 2026:

VariantLaunch priceFlipkart todayAmazon.in today

8GB + 256GB₹35,999₹31,499₹34,999
Prices change often, and bank offers can lower them further. Flipkart shows an inflated “MRP” next to these prices, so ignore the 60% off label.

Flipkart is cheaper right now by ₹2,000–₹3,500, depending on the variant.

Design and Durability

Silicon-carbon battery cells let Poco fit 9,000mAh into an 8.6mm body, but you still feel it. At 226g the X8 is heavier than most phones in this segment, and the 6.83-inch screen makes it a two-handed phone for most people.

Durability is where the X8 stands out on paper. It carries four ratings at once: IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. In plain terms, it is rated against dust, submersion and high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. The Free Press Journal review called this combination uncommon at the price, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front adds scratch and drop protection. Water damage is still usually not covered by warranty, though.

Display

Both independent reviews rate the screen among the phone’s best parts: easy to read in midday sun, with vibrant but not oversaturated colours. Free Press Journal also praised the touch response and the “Wet Touch” feature, which keeps the screen usable with wet fingers.

Performance and Gaming

Reviewers reported Geekbench single-core scores of about 830–860 and multi-core scores of about 2,350–2,430, and Fossbytes measured an AnTuTu score of roughly 7.9 lakh. That is fine for social media, banking apps, maps and multitasking.

Gaming opinions differ a little. Fossbytes says BGMI on Smooth + Extreme settings rarely dipped below 60fps over an hour without throttling, while Free Press Journal felt heavy gaming exposes the chip’s limits. A few verified buyers also mention warming during games. Our reading: casual and competitive-shooter gaming at sensible settings is fine, but this is not the phone for maxed-out graphics in heavier titles. The older UFS 2.2 storage also makes big installs slower than on UFS 3.1 or 4.0 phones.

Battery and Charging: The Real Reason to Buy

This is where the Poco X8 earns its place. Free Press Journal found it consistently lasted beyond a full day of moderate-to-heavy use, with light users getting close to two days. Fossbytes estimated around three days of light use, and still had charge left at night after a heavy day of video, photos and gaming.

The bundled 67W charger took just over an hour from empty to full in Fossbytes’ testing, and with a battery this big you will rarely charge from zero. The 22.5W reverse wired charging means the X8 can also top up your earbuds, a smartwatch or a friend’s phone with a cable, so it can genuinely replace a small power bank on trips.

Tip: to keep the battery healthy, avoid leaving it on the charger at 100% overnight, and keep the phone updated. Our guide to checking and installing Android security updates walks you through it.

Cameras

The camera setup is simple: a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation and a 2MP depth sensor. Reviewers found daylight photos sharp, well exposed and pleasing, and OIS helps in dim light. But Fossbytes saw highlights blowing out in harsh sunlight and noisy, washed-out low-light shots, and both reviewers flagged the lack of an ultra-wide lens. The 16MP selfie camera got positive comments from both.

The bigger limitation is video. Both the rear and front cameras record only up to 1080p at 30fps, with no 4K option. For a phone costing over ₹25,000 in late 2026, that is a clear weak spot if you film reels, travel videos or your kids’ events.

Software and Updates

The X8 runs HyperOS 3 on Android 16. Reviewers liked the smooth animations and features like automatic app folders, but complained about bloatware, including an extra app store. Most of it can be uninstalled. Poco promises four Android upgrades and six years of security updates, which is good for this price.

What Verified Buyers Are Saying

On Flipkart, the 6GB + 128GB listing had a 4.3 out of 5 rating from 1,268 ratings and 244 reviews when we checked. About 83% of ratings were 4 or 5 stars, while around 9.5% were 1 or 2 stars. The 8GB variants had a separate 4.2-star average from 265 ratings.

  • Common praise: battery backup (many buyers call it the best in its price range), value for money, smooth daily use and fast app switching, and comfort during long calls.
  • Common complaints: camera quality (the most repeated complaint in low ratings), heating during gaming, and a few reports of lag in apps such as Instagram. A small number of buyers reported delivery problems or a faulty unit, which is worth reporting within the return window if it happens to you.

Which Poco X8 Variant Should You Buy?

For most people, the 6GB + 128GB model at ₹25,499 is the best deal. This is not a gaming beast, so 2GB of extra RAM changes less than you might think. The trap is the top 8GB + 256GB variant: at ₹31,499 it sits only ₹2,500 below the Poco X8 Power (₹33,999 on Flipkart for 8GB + 256GB), which adds a 10,000mAh battery, 100W charging, a faster Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip, faster UFS 4.1 storage and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. If you need 256GB, stretch to the X8 Power instead. Storage is not expandable, so choose 128GB only if you back up photos to the cloud.

Final Verdict: Is the Poco X8 Worth Buying?

At ₹25,499, the Poco X8 is one of the easiest phones to recommend to anyone whose top complaint is “my phone dies by evening”. It pairs a huge battery with a bright, high-quality AMOLED screen, rare IP69K durability and a long update promise. What you give up is camera flexibility, 4K video and storage speed. If those matter, the Edge 70 Fusion or the X8 Power are better buys. If battery anxiety is your problem, the X8 solves it better than almost anything else at this price.
