If you game on PC, the GTA 6 launch on November 19 comes with a painful catch. Here is the straight answer to whether GTA 6 is coming to PC, when a GTA 6 PC release date might realistically land, and what PC players can do in the meantime.
Update (October 30, 2026): With three weeks to go before launch, there is still no PC version, no PC date and no PC system requirements. Everything below reflects the latest official statements.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?
Not at launch. GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026 only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC version or a PC release date. A PC port is widely expected eventually – every major Rockstar game of the last decade came to PC – but right now there is nothing official.
What Has Take-Two Said About GTA 6 on PC?
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained in interviews that Rockstar traditionally launches on consoles first because it wants to serve its core audience as well as possible – and that if you miss the core audience, you miss everyone else too. He has not said when a PC version will follow, but he has acknowledged in the past that PC has become a more important part of the business, which is why most observers treat a port as a “when”, not an “if”.
What About the “Early 2026 PC Release” Rumour?
You may still see old headlines claiming GTA 6 would hit PC in early 2026. That came from a 2025 earnings call by PC hardware maker Corsair, whose executive suggested the PC version could arrive around then. Corsair later clarified that the comment was speculation, not inside information – and the console game itself was later delayed to November 2026. Treat that claim as outdated.
When Could GTA 6 Come to PC? Rockstar’s Track Record
Rockstar’s history gives us the best clue. Its recent big open-world games all came to PC long after their console launch:
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA 4 | April 2008 | December 2008 | ~8 months |
| GTA 5 | September 2013 | April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | ~13 months |
| Red Dead Redemption | May 2010 | October 2024 | ~14 years |
Based on this pattern, a GTA 6 PC release somewhere in 2027 is the most realistic expectation, with late 2027 being a reasonable guess if Rockstar follows the RDR2 timeline. Some analysts have suggested a shorter gap, but these are predictions, not announcements. Until Rockstar confirms a date, treat any “GTA 6 PC release date” you see online as speculation.
Why Does Rockstar Release on Consoles First?
- Fewer hardware setups to optimize. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are fixed hardware; PC has thousands of combinations.
- Stronger anti-piracy and anti-cheat at launch – especially important for an online mode.
- Commercial reasons: a later PC launch gives the game a second big sales moment.
- Polish: PC ports of GTA 5 and RDR2 arrived with extras like higher frame rates and more graphics options. Extra time lets Rockstar do that properly.
Will GTA 6 Run on Your PC When It Arrives?
No PC system requirements exist yet. Judging by how detailed the game looks on PS5, expect it to need a modern CPU, a current-generation graphics card with plenty of VRAM, and a fast NVMe SSD. Storage is a safe bet too: the console download is reported at around 210GB, so a PC version is unlikely to be small.
Our advice: do not upgrade just for GTA 6 yet. Hardware prices change, newer parts launch, and the official requirements could arrive a year or more from now. If you are buying a PC anyway, an SSD of 1TB or more and a GPU with at least 12GB of VRAM are sensible choices for big modern games in general. Until a PC version arrives, our GTA 6 60 FPS guide explains how the game is expected to run on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox.
Where Would GTA 6 Be Sold on PC?
Nothing is confirmed, but Rockstar’s recent PC releases give a hint. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are sold through the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam and the Epic Games Store, and they always require the Rockstar Games Launcher to run. Expect something similar for GTA 6. There is no official PC store page or wishlist yet, so any “pre-order GTA 6 for PC” offer is not genuine.
Can You Play GTA 6 on a PC Screen at Launch?
Only if you own a console. Both Sony and Microsoft offer free remote play apps for Windows:
- PS Remote Play streams games from your own PS5 to a Windows PC over your home network.
- The Xbox app on Windows can remote-play games from your own Xbox console.
The game still runs on the console – your PC just shows the stream – so quality depends on your Wi-Fi or wired network. It is handy if your TV is busy, but it is not a PC version.
What PC Players Can Do Until Then
- Play on console: if you really cannot wait, a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S is the only way to play on day one. See GTA 6 prices in India and the US and how much storage GTA 6 needs.
- Revisit Rockstar’s back catalogue: GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are both on PC and often on sale. Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare expansion are on PC too.
- Avoid fake “GTA 6 PC download” sites – any download claiming to be GTA 6 for PC right now is malware or a scam.
- Follow official channels such as the Rockstar Newswire for any PC announcement, rather than YouTube “leaks”.
